Depending on your station in life, there were many different fashions of the Renaissance period.
A lady in waiting was a personal attendant for the queen. She lived in the palace and enjoyed a good life for that period of time. Her dresses were usually made of satin or silk. Brocades and velvet was very popular for her floor length dresses also.
The lady in waiting dresses were long sleeved and usually had a low neckline. She was a lady of high standing in the community. A companion to the queen, her days were spent with the queen in conversation.
She was an accomplished seamstress, and would spend her days embroidering. Many days were spent in the queen’s court as an attendant to the queen. She was a trusted confidante that the queen could confide her secrets to.
She would go wherever the queen went accompanying her to many royal functions. Therefore her clothes must be beautiful, so she would fit in with the queen’s entourage.
