There has been a lot of hype around the newly announced Wonder Woman TV pilot that is currently in development. Adrianne Palicki, of Friday Night Lights, was cast as the iconic hero. It was recently announced that Elizabeth Hurley has also been cast at Diana Prince’s (aka Wonder Woman) arch-enemy, Veronica Cale.
This week photos were released of Palicki in what appears to the be the her Wonder Woman costume and it is a mess. DC Comics re-did Wonder Woman last year in an attempt (one of many) to keep her relevant to modern culture but Palicki’s costume is dragging the franchise back to 80s and Jazzercise, and certainly not anything resembling the Amazonian princess. What this says to me is that NBC is focused on ruining this show. The Wonder Woman franchise, which is over 50 years old, has struggled to find a film outlet, and this misguided attempt at a television show is going to make any chance for a Wonder Woman movie that much slimmer. NBC, what are you thinking?
