In the upcoming Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, Warner Bros. Entertainment announced that Anne Hathaway will be playing Catwoman, the notorious cat burglar and love interest to the Dark Knight himself. Of course, Ms. Hathaway is not the first actress to don the Catwoman body suit. Her predecessors include Michelle Pfiffer from Batman Returns, Halle Berry who tried her luck in the forgettable Catwoman movie and who can forget the actresses from the Batman TV show including Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, and of course, Eartha Kitt.
Anne Hathaway doesn’t seem like the most obvious choice to play the next installment of the Catwoman legacy. Though, to her credit, she has done a wide range of films from comedies like Alice in Wonderland, Devil Wears Prada and Brokeback Mountain. Is she the right pick?
